This is the most popular form of accommodation because it allows the international visitor to really experience Australian culture in a way that tourists usually do not.

This tremendous experience plays an important part in your whole experience abroad. Host families allow you the chance to meet people and make friends, practice English, feel at home and have people to help you with problems and also experience Australian life style and values.

Each host family will offer you your own room and a key to the house. You will also receive at least two meals a day.

Over the Horizon has hundreds of families available so we try to match guests and families according to their interests and personality.

All international visitors are asked to complete a questionnaire about their family preferences and interests in order to find a matching family.

Examples are families who love sport, active families, musically inclined families, small families and large busy families etc. So make the most of your experience abroad with an Over the Horizon host family.

Share houses offer a safe and nice environment to live. This is usually in a house occupied by other international visitors or with some Australians (often a couple).

Share houses allow you to make friends and have a lot of freedom. You receive your own room and house key, but no meals are provided. This type of accommodation might be better than having a host family if you expect to have a busy schedule or if you want to travel on a very tight budget.

However when choosing share house accommodation it's recommended that visitors are reasonably confident with their English and have some experience abroad.
